Our composers have polished their musicianship with over twenty-five years of experience in the music industry and are dedicated to creating quality, uplifting music to accompany your lyrics. We pride ourselves on creating everything from scratch; no sampling! Our composers are multi-instrumentalists that captivate the targeted genre by meticulously crafting each musical element for all instrumentals created. The finite details that go into a composition, such as song structure and instrument choice, are not overlooked. Countless hours are spent making sure nothing is missed. In addition to composing we offer mixing and mastering services to all clients. With over twenty-five years of experience on analog and digital mixing consoles and access to the industry’s top microphones, software, hardware and outboard gear, we are certain to please the ear with our final result.

OUR CREATION PROCESS…

Creating an instrumental has many important stages to accomplish before it is complete. We typically start with rhythm and melody. Locking down the rhythmic core structure between percussive instruments ( drums / percussion ) and bottom melody ( bass ) and syncopating the two elements, is essential in the start of a new composition. From there, relative to the key the bass melody is in, a chord progression is established and the foundation is made. Other musical elements such as accent instruments and periodic musical phrases are added pertaining to the arrangement of the instrumental. We structure our instrumentals based on the vibe created by the combined musical elements and not every arrangement is the same. However, we consider a standard ( intro-chorus-verse-chorus-verse-brigde-choursoutro ) and arrange instrumentals specific to themselves by adding drops, breaks and subtle shifts of transition.

Mixing is the next stage and most critical part of the process. We shape all musical elements using proper equalization and compression techniques. Once the elements individual frequencies and dynamics are addressed and tonal balance is established, tasteful effects are implemented. Before mastering we analyze each instrument to see that they hit in the correct decibel range and if needed, a mix revision is done.

Our mastering process consists of a series of actions starting with a critical listening session to establish the dynamic range of the instrumental audio. Proper mastering techniques such as equalization, compression, and stereo enhancement are completed to ensure the instrumental has a quality sound that best fits its intended platform. All instrumentals are mastered with a -3 to -6 DB cut. This cut is made to give your mix engineer headroom to blend your lyrical content and ensure a clean mix. Each instrumental is embedded with metadata which includes the catalog name of the instrumental, composer name, dates of production / copyright, ISRC codes and are bounced to stereo audio tracks (.wav or .mp3). Certain licenses that we offer include audio track outs or stems. These elements are thoroughly examined, edited and set for your mix engineer to have full control of the overall mix when combining your lyrical content

MIXING AND MASTERING SERVICES…

In addition to composing instrumentals, Hitlist Productions offers mixing and mastering services to all artists in need! Mixing is one of the critical parts of the production process. We complete a full analyzation of each elements’ individual frequency / dynamic range and shape audio using proper equalization and compression techniques until tonal balance is established. This is key to a quality mix! Once this process is complete we work with the artist to create tasteful effects to their liking and implement them in accordance to their expectations. Before mastering we analyze each element and the mix as a whole to see that everything hits in the correct decibel range and if needed, a mix revision is done. We submit the mix to the artist and once approved we move forward to the mastering process.

Once complete we submit the final master to artist for approval.
